Beverly Green Rashad, RN, MSN, CNAA, BC
Executive Biography

Nurse Executive ImageBeverly Green Rashad, RN, MSN, CNAA, BC was appointed the Nurse Executive of Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in February 2006.  Ms. Rashad began her VA career in New York State at the Bronx VAMC.  Prior to coming to Shreveport, La., Ms. Rashad was the Operative Care Line Nurse Executive at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas for seven years. In this capacity, Ms. Rashad oversaw the clinical and administrative practices which include Surgery Nursing Personnel in the Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Surgery Ambulatory Care Center (SACC), the inpatient surgery nursing Unit 5E, the Intravenous Therapy Team and assigned Social Workers.

She has also served as the Clinic Coordinator of the Preoperative Screening Clinic (POSC).  Under her leadership, the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center’s POSC Team won the Federal Executive Board’s Increased Efficiency Award in February 1999 and was chosen as one of the 1999 Under Secretary’s Innovation Award winners for cost efficiency. Ms. Rashad has spent the last 20 years in progressive leadership positions.  She has worked throughout her career with all disciplines to improve the quality of patient care and communications to support health care delivery.

Ms. Rashad has worked closely on the national level with the National Center for Patient Safety and the National Pain Coordinating Committee. Ms. Rashad holds ANCC certification in Advanced Administration in Nursing. She received her Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (1972) from Kilgore College; Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (1974) from Texas Woman’s University and a Masters of Science in Nursing (1994) from The University of Texas.

Ms. Rashad is a member of Association of the Operating Room Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau-Eta Delta Chapter, American College of Health Care Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executives; Southeast Texas National Kidney Foundation, and the Texas Mental Health Association.   Ms. Rashad serves as an evaluator with the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), a national nursing-accrediting agency devoted exclusively to the accreditation of baccalaureate and graduate degree nursing programs. Ms. Rashad serves as the facilitator of the National Pain Management Teleconference held monthly for VA Medical Centers across the country.  She was selected to participate in the VHA Leadership VA Program 2002 Class and most recently selected to participate in the highly competitive VHA Executive Career Field Program 2004.
