Medical Center Director
Mr. Richard Crockett was appointed as the Medical Center Director of Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in October 2017. He served as the Interim Medical Center Director for approximately eight months prior to his appointment. He previously served at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System where he served as the Deputy Medical Center Director. Mr. Crockett began his VA career 25 years ago as a nurse in medical/surgical and ICU in Salt Lake City, Utah, a large 1A facility. While there, he served as a clinical informaticist and programmer, and later as Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff. Mr. Crockett then transferred to VISN 15 in Kansas City, Missouri, as the Network Program Director for Purchased Care and Utilization Management, and then as Executive Assistant to the Network Director. He also serve as the Interim Network Business Manager and Interim Deputy Network Director. Mr. Crockett then accepted the position of Associate Medical Center Director in Muskogee, Oklahoma. While there, he served as Interim Medical Center Director. Mr. Crockett brings a wide breadth of experience, a broad understanding of clinical and operational issues in health care, and a continued passion for the VA's mission of caring for our Veterans.

Mr. Zachary Sage, MHA was appointed Associate Director of Overton Brooks VA Medical Center (OBVAMC) in Shreveport, Louisiana, effective October 2, 2016. Mr. Sage previously served as the Associate Director of the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System. Mr. Sage joined the VA in 2007 through the Student Career Exploration Program as a Medical Support Assistant at the Lexington VA Medical Center in Kentucky. He continued his career as an Administrative Fellow at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Upon completion of his Fellowship, Mr. Sage continued serving at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center as a Supply Systems Analyst for the Logistics Management Service, and then as Administrative Officer of the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Care Line. Mr. Sage also served as the Health Systems Specialist to the Associate Director at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Sage earned his Master of Health Administration from the University of Kentucky in 2009. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Science Education from the University of Kentucky in 2007. Mr. Sage is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).

Associate Director Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive
Linda Burrell was appointed as the Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS) at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center on December 10, 2017. She comes to Overton Brooks VA from Sheridan VAHCS in Sheridan, Wyoming, where she was the ADPCS/Nurse Executive for 20 months. Mrs. Burrell has had a long and varied career in healthcare. She began as a housekeeper at a community nursing home; while there she completed the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course and continued to work as a CNA. She then enrolled in the Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) program at Haywood Community College in Clyde, North Carolina. Mrs. Burrell began her VA career at the (CGVAMC) in Asheville, North Carolina, in 2000 as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on the acute medical unit. She completed her ADN in 2002 and continued to work as a Registered Nurse on the medical unit. She left the VA for a brief stint in 2004 to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing while working in the Intensive Care Unit and Telemetry Stepdown Unit at Haywood Regional Medical Center in Clyde, North Carolina. Mrs. Burrell returned to the CGVAMC in 2006 with her BSN from Western Carolina University returning to the acute medical unit. She accepted her first management position in 2008 as the Nurse Manager for the Long Term Care and Hospice unit of the Community Living Center in Asheville. While the Nurse Manager for CLC/Hospice she enrolled and completed her Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration from Western Carolina University. In 2012, she became the Chief Nurse for Geriatrics and Extended Care Services at the CGVAMC. Her leadership journey led her to Sheridan, Wyoming in April 2016 as the ADPCS/NE.
