  • No visitors in the Emergency Department
  • Veterans with scheduled appointments should come to the VA alone, if possible

VA Police Entry Control
Main Entrance & Back Gate

Our VA Police are ensuring everyone who enters our campus is aware of our No-Visitor policy. To minimize traffic flow interruptions on Stoner Avenue, the Back Gate will be open to employees from 6 a.m.-8 a.m., Monday-Friday.

From 8 a.m.-6 p.m., the back gate will only open for delivery vehicles (Monday-Friday).

Controlling traffic flow ensures adherence to our visitor policy and enhances our screening procedures for the virus that causes COVID-19.

Active Screening
Active Screening continues to prevent spread of COVID-19

Active screening began Monday, March 9. We screen seven days a week.  Active screening is for everyone who enters any site of care. The effort is a precautionary measure that follows recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Active screening also ensures only official business is conducted in our facility (adhering to our No-Visitor) policy. Screeners ask:

  • Do you have a fever or worsening cough or shortness of breath or flu-like symptoms?
  • Have you or a close contact traveled to an area with widespread or sustained community transmission of COVID-19 within 14 days of symptom onset?
  • Have you been in close contact with someone, including health care workers, confirmed to have COVID-19?

Active Screening

Emergency Cases Only

The Shreveport VA hospital postponed all elective cases. Emergency cases will not be postponed.  Additionally, all out-patient/primary care clinic visits, including specialty care services, are being evaluated for virtual care via VA Video Connect or Telehealth options.
